“To secure the human rights, dignity, and rehabilitation of India’s prisoners through education, legal aid, mental health support, and livelihood opportunities — transforming lives from punishment to purpose.”
Vision:
An India where every prisoner has a second chance to reform, reintegrate, and contribute positively to society.
Tagline:
🔒 “From Custody to Contribution – Jail Bandi Kawach for Every Life Behind Bars.”
India’s prisons hold over 5.5 lakh prisoners, many of whom are undertrials, poor, illiterate, or victims of social neglect.
According to NCRB and NHRC data (2015–2024):
75% of prisoners are undertrials, not convicted yet.
Over 60% belong to economically weaker sections.
Mental health issues, overcrowding, and lack of education are common.
Most prisoners lack access to legal aid, counselling, or post-release support.
After release, social rejection and unemployment lead many to reoffend — a cycle that increases crime and wastes human potential.
Thus, Jail Bandi Kawach aims to bring reform, rehabilitation, and reintegration into the prison system with compassion and practicality — helping both prisoners and society heal.
Ensure basic human rights and mental well-being for all prisoners.
Provide legal aid and speedy justice for undertrials.
Establish education and skill development programs inside prisons.
Build employment linkages for released inmates.
Reduce reoffending and repeat crimes through rehabilitation.
Create public awareness about prisoner dignity and reformation.
